Cricket lovers countrywide following the recent debacle of a tour to Australia must be pulling their hair out at the decision to keep together the same management quartet responsible.

This decision has around it the distinct aroma of a ‘public school boys only we know best’ attitude. To the paying public the tour from start to finish was embarrassing; poorly planned, infant school coaching, couldn't care less performances, drinking habits to excess.

Both Brendon McCullum and Rob Key should now be unemployed, the captain Stokes given a stern final warning. Neither is the ECB exempt from culpability, their leadership has been woefully weak.

County chairmen should meet urgently and assess both the role and response the current ECB management has adopted throughout this disgrace, for if those ultimately responsible are left to do as they wish, cricket is heading in the wrong direction.
