LSG Secures First Victory in IPL 2026: Owner Sanjiv Goenka Emphasizes Patience and Team Spirit
Hyderabad, April 5: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opened their account in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a victory on Sunday. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets. After the match, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka highlighted the importance of patience and collective belief within the team. He stated that such performances reflect the process of building a successful season.
In the match played on Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first, scoring 156 runs after losing nine wickets. Heinrich Klaasen contributed 62 runs, while Nitish Reddy added 56 runs to the total. In response, Lucknow Super Giants chased down the target in 19.5 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 68 runs, and Aiden Markram supported with 45 runs.
Following the win, Sanjiv Goenka remarked that achieving success in a long tournament requires time and trust within the team. He credited the leadership group and the clarity among players for the team’s performance under pressure. Goenka acknowledged that while this victory is encouraging, the team’s focus remains on continuous improvement and better performance throughout the tournament.
