IPL Points Table 2026: Updated Standings, Orange Cap, Purple Cap After DC vs MI Match 8
The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 had its first double header on Saturday, as Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, New Delhi. The two teams came to this match after winning their first matches of the 19th edition. DC beat MI by 6 wickets.
Axar Patel won the toss and elected to field first, and they came into the match with an unchanged XI from their win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). MI made three changes, as their regular captain, Hardik Pandya, was not available due to illness, and Suryakumar Yadav led the charge for the franchise.

The other two changes were Deepak Chahar for Pandya, Corbin Bosch came in for Trent Boult, and Mitchell Santner replaced Allah Ghazanfar. MI had a horrible start as Ryan Rickelton fell early to Mukesh Kumar, and in the same over, Tilak Varma was also back in the dugout for a duck.
But Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav stitched a partnership of 53 runs before the former was dismissed on the score of 35 runs. SKY then anchored the innings with Naman Dhir, as the MI captain scored 51 off 36 balls and was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi. Some small contributions of 28 from Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner’s 18, and Corbin Bosch’s 11 off 4 balls helped MI to score 162/6.
Coming out to chase, DC had the worst possible start; they lost KL Rahul for the score of one run, and soon Nitish Rana was also back after scoring a duck, thanks to a brilliant throw from Jasprit Bumrah. DC built a partnership with Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi of 66 runs for the third wicket. Nissanka was out on the score of 44 runs.
