Pakistan U19 vs England U19: Usman and Farhan hit centuries in dominant 177-run victory

Centuries from Usman Khan and captain Farhan Yousaf, followed by a four-wicket haul from Mohammad Sayyam, powered Pakistan U19 to a commanding 177-run victory over England U19 in the opening one-day match at Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground on Wednesday.

Pakistan U19 take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series with second one-day match scheduled to take place on Saturday, 12 September in Guildford.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan U19 posted an imposing 332 for nine in their allotted 50 overs. Left-handed opening batter Usman led the batting effort with a superb 151 off 136 balls, striking 15 fours and four sixes, while right-handed Farhan compiled 115 from 133 balls, including 12 fours and a six.

Pakistan were 41 for two when Usman and Farhan joined forces, before the pair transformed the innings with a monumental 268-run partnership for the third wicket. Their stand is the highest partnership for Pakistan in U19 cricket and the fifth-highest partnership overall in the format.

Usman brought up his century from 103 balls before accelerating towards 150, while Farhan reached three figures from 119 balls. Their partnership carried Pakistan to 309 before Farhan was dismissed in the 47th over.

Defending 333, Pakistan’s bowlers were in control of the match. Left-arm pacer Sayyam was the standout performer, returning figures of four for 39 from 9.1 overs. Rizwanullah, Niqab Shafiq and Ahmed Hussain bagged two wickets apiece as England were dismissed for 155 in 35.1 overs.

Isaac Mohammed offered resistance with 72, while Luke Hands scored 28, but Pakistan struck regularly to prevent England from building a meaningful partnership. England slipped to 85 for six before eventually being bowled out, handing Pakistan a comprehensive win.
