For Arjun Tendulkar, who is eager to build a name for himself, IPL 2026 may prove to be a make-or-break season. Despite carrying on his father Sachin Tendulkar's legacy, Arjun is yet to make a significant impact on the 22 yards. The left-arm bowler moved from Mumbai to Goa to play domestic cricket.

Prior to the 2026 season, Arjun, who is part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), was on the Shubhankar Mishra podcast, where he reflected on playing domestic cricket for Goa. Arjun said, "Comfort zone se nahi nikla hoon main. Idhar bhi maza aa raha hai (I haven't really come out of my comfort zone. Even here, I am enjoying myself.)"

But having the surname "Tendulkar" is a legacy in itself, particularly in a nation like India where cricket is considered a religion and Sachin is fondly called the 'God of Cricket'. Unquestionably, the name has given Arjun opportunities and opened doors, but it also comes with some unpleasant realities.

As reported in the Indian Express, one of Arjun's teammates had made fun of him for a well-known commercial that featured his father. The incident dates back to 2016 when Arjun was playing in Kanga League. Arjun was sitting on the ground with his teammates after getting out. Tea was given to players in small plastic cups and Arjun was offered too, which he declined.

"Haan haan, tu toh Boost hi piyega na! (Yes, you will drink Boost, right!)" came a quick poke from a teammate.

Sachin had notably starred in a TV commercial for Boost, the malted milk beverage, and was popular among the youngsters across the country.

Arjun was also asked if he felt burdened by expectations as the son of Sachin Tendulkar. Arjun responded he is still more concerned with enjoying his game than listening to background noise.

"I play cricket out of passion, not to prove anything to anyone. I just focus on the process of working hard and enjoying my game," Arjun said.
