Thrilling Action at the Inaugural Goa Round of the Indian Racing Festival

The first-ever Goa round of the Indian Racing Festival delivered an exhilarating showcase of motorsport, with Raoul Hyman and Alister Yoong emerging victorious in Round 4 at the Manohar International Airport Street Circuit.

Hyman, representing Goa Aces JA Racing, showcased remarkable composure to clinch Race 1 with a time of 24:03.490, marking a significant win for the home team in their debut at the Goa street circuit.

After starting behind pole-sitter Aqil Alibhai from Chennai Turbo Riders, Hyman quickly took the lead and maintained it under intense pressure throughout the race. Alibhai finished in second place with a time of 24:06.800, trailing by just 3.310 seconds, while Ishaan Madesh from Speed Demons Delhi secured third place with a time of 21:44.818. The race was interrupted by a red flag in the final minute, leading to results being adjusted based on the drivers' positions at that time.

A mid-race red flag wiped out Hyman's 2.8-second advantage, but he quickly regained his composure after the restart. Late race incidents involving Madesh and Tom Canning resulted in another red flag, with results reflecting the positions from the previous completed lap, ensuring Madesh's podium finish.

"This is our home race, and I'm thrilled we could secure a win for Goa Aces and Mr. John Abraham," Hyman expressed. "Aqil kept me on my toes throughout the race; we were neck and neck all weekend."

In Race 2, Alister Yoong from Speed Demons Delhi took advantage of early race turmoil to seize the lead and finish with a time of 27:50.811.

Sohil Shah from Kolkata Royal Tigers, starting from a lower position, executed an impressive drive to finish second in 27:51.119, just 0.308 seconds behind Yoong. Ruhan Alva from Kichcha's Kings Bangalore rounded out the podium with a time of 28:23.984.

Initially, pole-sitter Gabriela Jilkova made a mistake under pressure, allowing Shah to capitalize and change the dynamics at the front. Despite Shah's rapid approach in the closing laps, a late safety car neutralized the race, maintaining the order.

"Seeing Sohil in my mirrors pushed me to find those extra tenths," Yoong remarked. "Fortunately, it was just enough to secure the win."

With Hyman's podium finish in Race 1 and Yoong's victory in Race 2, Speed Demons Delhi emerged as the standout team of the weekend, now leading the championship standings.

The challenging 2.064 km, 12-turn street circuit, known for its limited run-off areas and heavy braking zones, proved to be both unforgiving and unpredictable. With identical cars across the grid, the Goa round highlighted the importance of driver skill and racecraft. If Round 4 is any indication, the title race in the Indian Racing Festival is wide open and intensifying.
