Tristan Stubbs continued his strong Vitality Blast form with a fluent 36 as Hampshire sealed a 29-run win over Sussex at the Utilita Bowl to extend their winning streak to four matches.

The South African batter once again showed his value through the middle overs, striking the ball cleanly and finding the boundary at key moments as Hampshire rebuilt from a shaky start. Stubbs played with intent alongside Liam Dawson, who anchored the innings superbly with 52 and shared a crucial 66-run stand that dragged the hosts to a competitive 173 for six. Hilton Cartwright also chipped in late with quick runs to lift the total.

In reply, Sussex made a strong start through Harrison Ward’s 40, but Hampshire’s attack gradually took control. Dawson then flipped the match with the ball, ripping through the middle order with 3 for 20, while Chris Wood and James Fuller also struck twice each to derail the chase.

Stubbs’ contribution ensured another strong SA presence in a high-quality Blast contest.
