Somerset seconds drew with Durham Seconds at Gateshead

After being asked to bat first Durham posted 407 for 8 declared that featured an unbeaten 100 from Haydon Mustard and 97 by Ben Raine, while for the visitors Tom Watson ended with 2 for 60 from his 13 overs, 2 of which were maidens, Zach Vukusic took 2 for 76 from 14 one of which was a maiden and Jack Blackwell claimed 2 for 76 from 14 with one maiden.

When the visitors replied they were all out for 329 in 94.1 overs, Will Tripcony a triallist from Dorset making 97 off 172 balls with 13 fours during which he added 142 for the fifth wicket with Sam Price who hit 47.

Oscar Coleman who captained the side made 94 off 104 deliveries with 6 fours and 2 sixes adding 108 for the seventh wicket with Vukusic who hit 28.

Batting for a second time Durham made 241 for 5 in 51 overs before declaring, Sam Price taking 2 for 17.

Chasing 220 for victory Somerset lost Ben Church cheaply and Samit Perera for 22 before a third wicket partnership between Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Will Smeed added 100 in 16 overs before the latter was out for 64 which he made from 40 balls with seven 4s and two sixes.

Kohler-Cadmore then added 35 with Tripcony who made 15 before he was out with the score on 163 after which Price joined him and the pair remained together until the game ended in a draw with Somerset on 176 for 4 in 32 overs.

Kohler-Cadmore ended unbeaten on 5 from 81 balls with 4 fours and a six while Price was not out 10.

Somerset Seconds play their last game against Worcestershire in a 4-day friendly at Kidderminster starting on September 14.
