Yapham CC openers Jon Coote and Mark Fairey were the stars as the club’s Sunday XI stormed to a 10-wicket win against Scarborough at North Marine Road.

Yapham elected to field and in a stop start innings Scarborough reached 186-8 in 40 overs.

Deri Reed-Thomas was the top Yapham bowler with 3-37 from 10 overs, with a wicket apiece for Patrick Wahl, Michael Hodgkinson, Maisie Hughes and Alfie Allen, along with a Coote run-out.

In a wonderful response Yapham made 189-0 off 31 overs, Coote smashing 17 fours in his unbeaten 94 and Fairey hitting seven fours in his 74 as Yapham won by 10 wickets.

Batting first Yapham Women’s XI were all out for 67 in 21.5 overs at home to Fairburn.

Chasing, Fairburn reached 68-6 and secured a win by four wickets.

On Saturday, Yapham 1sts won the toss and batted against Ovington, only reaching 110 all out in 40.5 overs, Stuart Wainwright making 34.

Responding Ovington almost did not get to their target, losing eight wickets in their winning 113 in 26.5 overs.

Yapham 2nds batted first at Hovingham and their 172-8 never looked enough on a good pitch in bright sunshine.

Reuben Moore (33) and Tom Beattie (40) tried hard. Hovingham then cruised to 176-5 in just 25 overs.
