Ben Stokes Blasts ICC

Ben Stokes admits that his team's performance has been very poor, but it does not affect his international career in any manner. He will continue as England's Test captain until the end of his contract in 2027, despite the humiliating series defeat to the Aussies in this Ashes.

England have already lost the Ashes series with their defeat in Adelaide. The remaining two matches will be prestige fights for the Englishmen and will be a game of dominance for the Aussies as they attempt for a clean sweep at home.

Skipper Ben Stokes has finally admitted that his team has not been able to perform at their very best, and hence, Australia could manage a record-equaling series win in just 11 days in the Ashes.

Ben Stokes desires to continue as England's Test captain

The England skipper Ben Stokes signed a central contract with the ECB, which makes him available as England's captain until 2027, and Stokes, too, has shown no intention to cut it short by any means.

He insisted that nothing much had changed since the start of the Ashes, and now, hence, these losses do not affect his career as an international cricketer, especially after Stokes has had runs off his bat and also wickets with the ball.

Stokes, however, admitted that it is disappointing that they can no longer achieve what they had initially aimed for before getting into the series. England came with high hopes to win the Ashes for the first time since 2010-11, but was rather left humiliated.

Ben Stokes seems pissed off by his team's inconsistency

Ben Stokes placed England's losses quite simply, as he suggested that the Australians could execute a lot better with the bat, ball, and on the field as well, while the England players were very inconsistent in all three departments.

"They've been able to execute everything a lot better than us [for] a much more consistent period of time. We've had moments where we've been very good, but Australia have been a lot better than us over a much longer period of time in this series so far," said Ben Stokes.

Stokes also claimed that England are well aware of the strategies that work out in Australia, but it is just that they have not been able to execute them, and they have been very inconsistent in their execution. Stokes looked visibly pissed off with his bowlers.

Ben Stokes cites the positives from the Adelaide Test

Despite having lost the series, Stokes insisted that England still has a lot to play for in the series. "We're not going to turn around and kick the stumps over because we have so much more to play for in the series, although we can't go back with the thing we came out here to do," stated the English skipper.

The England captain argued that the English players are slowly gaining the groove, as they played their best game in the Adelaide Test, as he highlighted the lower-order partnerships between Jamie Smith and Will Jacks and then Brydon Carse and Jacks.

Stokes also praised England's effort on Day 1 of the Adelaide Test when Australia was kept below the par score, and felt that they were in the driving seat until they even went out to bat. The English veteran feels that his team has finally put up the fightback that he has been talking about.

"We were close, but not close enough, and being close ain't going to do much for you when you need to win a game," Stokes concluded.
