Wisbech Cricket Club announces its team to take on MCC in annual two-day fixture

Wisbech Town Cricket Club have named their team for its annual two-day fixture against the MCC this week.

The two-day game between the two sides will take place at Harecroft Road on Wednesday (10.30am) and Thursday (11am) this week.

Wisbech skipper James Williams has declared himself fit to lead the side.

The MCC, through its members, plays approximately 650 matches each year across the country, mainly against school sides and clubs, but its match against Wisbech is the only regular two-day fixture in its calendar.

The opening match was played on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 April, 1926, in what is believed to be the first match at the ground and featured one of the world’s greatest ever cricketers, Jack Hobbs.
