Louth's winning streak in the Lincolnshire Premier League Championship North division was halted at five games after a batting collapse saw them beaten by 52 runs at home to Hartsholme on Saturday.

This ninth game of the season marked the halfway stage and they will now look to get back on course at Cleethorpes seconds on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Louth decided to bowl first and within the first four balls of the game that looked a good decision when the in-form Pat Byrne (1-37) took a wicket.

However, Hartsholme rebuilt immediately and put on a 105 partnership to sit themselves in a strong position at drinks.

The introduction of young talented spinners Alfie West and Piran Grayson got Louth back in the game.

Their skill shone through once again with Grayson taking 2-30 off his 10 and West 0-27 off 10, allowing Louth to grasp some control and reduce Hartsholme's score considerably, though finishing on a competitive 213-3 off their 50 overs.

Louth openers A. West and Brown looked in control against a testing opening spell but lost Brown (5) to a good ball early on.

West fell for a hard-working 16 and Tye went soon after for one, leaving Louth 37-3.

In-form Garner and talented Lake then worked hard to get Louth back on track, an 83 partnership getting Louth to 120 and on track to knock off the total.

Unfortunately they couldn’t carry on their innings with Lake falling for 53 and Garner soon after for 40 and Louth 124-5.

A strong Louth middle order couldn’t carry on the momentum and platform set and a collapse occurred, Louth losing their next wickets for just 37 runs and been bowled out for 161.

This could have been worse if not for some grit from Byrne and Grayson to put on 24 runs for the final wicket.

Player of the match was Piran Grayson for his game-changing spell of 2-30.
