The Indian cricket team is set to tour Zimbabwe for a short three-match T20I series, slated to begin on 23rd July. Shreyas Iyer will lead the side.
The Indian cricket team has been going through a tough phase in recent times, with successive series losses. The Men in Blue saw their losing run begin in the T20I format when Ireland first humbled them by a 2-0 margin. This was the first time that the Indian side had lost to the Irish side in any format of the game.
This was followed by a 4-0 drubbing by Harry Brook’s England side in the following series. That loss also meant that the current T20 World Cup winners lost their World Number 1 rankings in the shortest format. To make matters worse, the side also lost the ODI series to England with a 2-1 margin.
Zimbabwean Cricket has been on the rise after their impressive performances against Bangladesh recently. The hosts won the one-off Test match and also took the ODI series with a 2-1 margin. Sikandar Raza's T20I side lost the series 2-1 despite some terrific cricket in all three games.
The host team will be waiting for India, knowing that the visiting team is down on confidence after their latest defeats. The likes of Ben Curran, Brian Bennett, Brad Evans, and Dion Myers have been in fine form with the bat. Blessing Muzarabani and Ngarava have done well with the ball. Muzarabani also has good experience of playing against Indian batters after his stint with KKR during the IPL 2026 season.

Zimbabwe are yet to announce their team for the series, and an announcement is expected shortly. India have handed first-time call-ups to Prabhsimran Singh, Yash Thakur, Harsh Dubey, and Ashok Sharma. The selectors have also recalled Mayank Yadav to the side after nearly two years. Ravi Bishnoi was a late addition to the team for injured Varun Chakravarthy.
