However, their homecoming was one to forget as the visitors completed an early-season double after winning 4-2 in Devon on the opening day.

Bovey Tracey took the lead after four minutes when Levi Roberts flicked a header from a corner inside the far post.

Stu Bowker then pounced on a back pass to make it 2-0 after 24 minutes.

An own goal a minute later increased the visitors’ advantage, before Charlie Castlehouse headed in the fourth in the 28th minute.

His goal came after a Bovey Tracey effort had been deflected high into the air.

The visitors continued to control the game, and Rudi McKinnon headed home a cross at the far post seven minutes later.

The Tangerines went into half-time 5-0 down, and there was little respite after the break. McKinnon headed his second from a corner nine minutes into the second half.

Bowker scored again after another Wellington mistake to make it 7-0 after 63 minutes.

Josh Webber completed the scoring two minutes later, driving home Bovey Tracey’s eighth goal.

Wellington continued to battle and came closest to a consolation in the 88th minute, when James Rowe volleyed just over on the turn.

They return to action on the evening of Wednesday, September 9, when Buckland Athletic visit the Carly Press Ground for a 7.45pm kick-off.
