The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was a double header on Saturday, as Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second match of the double header at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. RR beat GT by 6 runs.

The GT vs RR had some surprises, as Shubman Gill was missing out on the game, and Rashid Khan captained GT in this game. RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to bat first. RR made two changes from their last win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and GT made one force change, with Kumar Kushagra got chance with Gill being out.

IPL 2026: GT vs RR Match Result

RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi went hard against the GT bowlers from the very first ball. Sooryavanshi was the attacker between the two as he went on and scored 31 off 18 balls. Jaiswal took charge after the latter was dismissed. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 55 off 36 deliveries and was cleaned up by Kagiso Rabada.

After the wicket of Jaiswal, captain Parag also went back early, with Prasidh Krishna providing the breakthrough. Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer then stitched a partnership of 30 runs, as the latter was dismissed thanks to a stunning catch from Mohammed Siraj. The former scored a fifty in the game and took charge after the wickets.

Jurel was back after scoring 75 off 42 deliveries and was excellent throughout the innings, and a finishing touch from the veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja off 7 runs off as many deliveries helped RR to post 201/6 in their 20 overs. The way the Royals started the GT vs RR game, they will feel they are 20 runs short.

Coming out to chase, GT were off to a flying start as Sai Sudharsan and Kumar Kushagra were smacking the RR bowlers from the very first over. The former was the aggressor between the two, and they brought up the fifty in the fifth over without losing a wicket. Sai started the innings where he left off last season.

The first wicket fell in the 8th over as Kushagra was the man dismissed on the score of 18 runs. Sai scored a brilliant half-century on the night, and he was dismissed on the score of 73 runs. There were two quick wickets in the same over, with Glenn Phillips and Washington Sundar dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi.

Jos Buttler took the responsibility but departed after scoring 26 runs, and GT lost four wickets in the span of 27 runs. After that, there was a flurry of wickets in the match, but Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada tried their best to take the match down to the wire, but failed. After the GT vs RR match, the Royals are top of the table.
