Mohammed Rizvi Signs Leicestershire Contract for Metro Bank One-Day Cup
SACA has announced that Mohammed Rizvi has signed professional terms with Leicestershire County Cricket Club ahead of the forthcoming Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
The right-handed batter and leg-spin bowling all-rounder was part of the original group of players to join SACA following its establishment in 2022. Rizvi became the programme’s 17th graduate to enter the professional game when he signed a Metro Bank One-Day Cup contract with Kent in August 2025.
Rizvi made six List A appearances for Kent before earning an opportunity in the County Championship. He made his professional first-class debut against Lancashire at Canterbury in September and returned to the SACA programme following the completion of his Kent contract at the end of the season.
The move makes Rizvi the second SACA player to regain professional terms with a county. He follows Yadvinder Singh, who joined Leicestershire earlier this year after previously playing professionally for Worcestershire.
Away from SACA, Rizvi has represented North Middlesex Cricket Club in the Middlesex Premier League this year, alongside appearances for Cambridgeshire in the National Counties Trophy and T20 competitions.
Rizvi has continued to perform consistently for SACA across all three formats this season, regularly contributing with the ball. He underlined his quality last week by claiming a match-winning five-wicket haul against Surrey in SACA’s opening 50-over fixture of the summer.
The all-rounder will now join Leicestershire and represent the Foxes during their upcoming Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign.
On Rizvi his contract with Leicestershire, SACA Founder and MD, Tom Brown, commented:
“We are thrilled that Mo has earned another opportunity to prove himself in the professional game.
“Mo has worked so hard since joining the SACA programme, and his determination, work ethic and resilience are a real credit to him. He’s never given up in his belief that he can succeed as a professional, and this opportunity with Leicestershire presents him with another fantastic platform to do just that.
“Everyone at SACA wishes him every success in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup with Leicestershire and we know that he’ll step up and relish the challenge.”
On signing for Leicestershire, Rizvi said:
“I’m incredibly proud and grateful to be joining Leicestershire. This opportunity means a great deal to me, especially knowing the hard work, sacrifice and perseverance it’s taken to get back to this point.
“I’m thankful for the faith the club has shown in me and excited to prove myself again. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the team’s success.
“I’d also like to thank everyone at SACA and my closer friends/family for providing me with the platform and support to develop as both a player and a person.”
