IPL 2026: CSK Wins Toss Against RCB, Opts to Bowl First

Bengaluru, April 5: In the 11th match of IPL 2026, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first.

CSK made no changes to their playing eleven for this match. After winning the toss, Ruturaj stated, “We will bowl first. This is clearly a high-scoring ground. The pitch looks good, and we expect a lot of runs. We will try to restrict them as much as possible. Dhoni is recovering slowly; sometimes it takes a bit of time. If he is ready to play, he will return soon. The first match was disappointing, but our batting was much better in the second match. All players are filled with confidence. There are no changes in our team.”

RCB also kept their playing eleven unchanged. After losing the toss, captain Rajat said, “We wanted to bowl first, but the pitch looks quite hard, so we are happy to bat. It’s a fresh wicket. The players performed well in the last match, and we want to continue that performance here. Everyone had a clear understanding of their roles in the last match, and their confidence is high. We are going with the same team.”

Chennai Super Kings have had a rocky start in IPL 2026. They have played two matches and lost both. In their last match, CSK was defeated by the Punjab Kings by five wickets. Although the batsmen performed well, the bowlers failed to meet expectations again. Ayush Mhatre scored a brilliant 73 runs off 43 balls, while Shivam Dube remained unbeaten with 45 runs. Sarfaraz Khan also made a quick 32 runs off 12 balls. However, the bowling performance from Matt Henry, Noor Ahmad, and Rahul Chahar was disappointing.

On the other hand, RCB kicked off the tournament with a win. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in their first match. Virat Kohli showcased an impressive performance, scoring 69 runs off 38 balls. Devdutt Padikkal contributed with 61 runs off 26 balls. In bowling, Jacob Duffy excelled, taking three wickets for just 22 runs in his four-over spell, while Romario Shepherd also claimed three wickets.

CSK’s playing eleven: Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Captain), Ayush Mhatre, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Matt Henry, and Khalil Ahmed.

RCB’s playing eleven: Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (Captain), Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhinandan Singh, and Jacob Duffy.
