Fans slam Manchester Super Giants for “AI slop” video promoting The Hundred
Last Updated on 12 minutes ago by Charbel Coorey
The 2026 edition of The Hundred – England’s premier franchise cricket league – is less than two months away. This will be the first season of the tournament after teams were sold to private investors.
The first-ever auction in the Hundred was held in March 2026 in London. After all the new owners took over after the auction, all the franchises have revealed their kits, jerseys, and all sorts of promotions to get the fans excited for the tournament.
The Manchester Super Giants, a sister franchise of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, recently revealed their playing kit in a promotional video on social media. However, the content has been widely criticised by fans and pundits, given it is generated by AI. The video has plenty of visible mistakes, hampering the franchise’s image as well as the league’s.
Manchester Super Giants have deleted the video. It included three batters on the pitch at the same time, players in whites, wicket-keepers using batting gloves and batting pads, and bowlers running in the opposite direction from the batter.
The Hundred is already subject to mixed opinions from cricket fans in England and the UK. Some enjoy it while some are critical of the format. After the privatisation of the league, the hope was that fans would feel more excited about the tournament, but this ‘AI slop’ video has made things difficult for the ECB and The Hundred, at least on social media.
Here’s how the fans reacted on the video on X, formerly Twitter.
Aiden Markram, right-arm quick bowler, with no ball, for some reason running away from the batter, who for some reason is in whites https://t.co/CaQ4mXsihP pic.twitter.com/p8vB1JOUXM

One batsman halfway down the wicket, his teammate taking guard facing the keeper, and a third batsman standing there who’s turned up dressed for a county game.

Is this a serious promotional video, a tribute to ‘Brian Lara Cricket’, or just the worst of AI slop? pic.twitter.com/XJa7bE7VsB
When I started looking at this picture, I thought maybe there's one mistake… But after a continuous look I found everything is a mistake😭

– Non striker on middle of pitch
– keeper at non striker end
– opponent are playing in whites (test)
– why is the runner with the batsman?
Nothing has been more divisive in English cricket than the creation of these franchises.

Is there another sport where even the AI version of the stadium is empty? 🤣 pic.twitter.com/4h9VBX0nkC

Dear cricket teams, stop using AI slop. There are so many talented creatives who would jump at the chance to make something meaningful and authentic for your club. AI is not only a complete waste of energy, but it's insulting the very fans you're trying to attract. Stop it. pic.twitter.com/XydL2VgxDS

Ah yes. Sophie Ecclestone, the best batter in the world.

There are so many things so clearly AI about this video, but 3 batters, one who has turned up in test match kit for the hundred, may be my favourite 😂😂 https://t.co/jvTQe7Zg1j pic.twitter.com/UB2W1tcxeB

My theory is that all the painful AI slop in this video was intentional, in order to get people to talk about the Manchester Super Giants. https://t.co/xP1ksonSZQ

My new favourite bit might be them clearly grassing a catch https://t.co/j1FVqZCV6k pic.twitter.com/HMg1ASdgqz

And who tf is he bowling to?
Also what is he bowling?
Finally, where's the ball when he is bowling??? pic.twitter.com/dyhbwU9lBo
The classic T20 scenario where a wicketkeeper, wearing batting pads and batting gloves, plus a helmet, takes a diving catch parallel to the square leg umpire, who is next to TWO square leg fielders, both wearing whites, with floodlights on under midday blue skies.

AI sucks. https://t.co/YNzY9rGc7b pic.twitter.com/0tar9Vklzt
Worth saying that this is maybe the worst video to ever grace this website. Absolute AI slop. Hope everyone’s proud of themselves https://t.co/e5NXVKP9Cf

Manchester Super Giants’ men’s side has many big players like Aiden Markram, Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klaasen, Rachin Ravindra and Noor Ahmad. The women’s side also has big names like Meg Lanning, Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Ecclestone and Richa Ghosh.
