Adam Coombes smashes 145 for Elmswell Cricket Club against Woolpit Cricket Club in junction 47 derby

Adam Coombes smashed 145 off 124 balls for Elmswell Cricket Club in the junction 47 derby against Woolpit, in a game which went down to the penultimate ball.

Opening the batting alongside captain Ben Whatling, Coombes’ innings was laced with 25 fours while he struck at a rate of 116.94.

In response, Woolpit’s Samuel Bolton chalked off 141 runs in 99 balls, while the visitors claimed victory with just one ball remaining.

Coombes’ 145 is the third highest score in Elmswell’s history, as well as his own personal record.

Director of cricket Oliver Garnett said: “Everyone at the club is delighted for Adam. He joined the club last season as availability dwindled, and his contribution to the team’s atmosphere and performances have been second to none. He thoroughly deserved his record knock.”

Muhammed Arslan also impressed on debut with 57, coming it in at number four.

Up next for Elmswell in the Hunts County Bats Suffolk Cricket League Division 5 is a visit to third-placed Nowton on Sunday, while Woolpit will host Brettenham Park.
