Temba Bavuma struck 91 as the Lions reached 275-6 against Boland on the opening day of the CSA Four-Day Series at the Wanderers.

The Proteas captain hit 14 fours in his 146-ball innings before falling nine runs short of a century. Ryan Rickelton contributed 49, while Mitchell van Buuren made 52.

Lizaad Williams led Boland’s attack with 3-34, while Siyabonga Mahima removed Bavuma and Van Buuren to finish the day with 2-58.

At SuperSport Park, the Titans established a 15-run lead after dismissing the Dolphins for 157.

Grant Roelofsen top-scored with 65, but Marco Jansen, Dayyaan Galiem and Beyers Swanepoel claimed three wickets each. Jansen took 3-39, Galiem 3-29 and Swanepoel 3-31.

The Titans responded with 172-5, with Tshepang Dithole scoring 43 and Jansen adding 37. Lethabo Phahlamohlaka retired hurt on 32, while Tristan Luus took 3-36 for the Dolphins.

At Newlands, the Warriors reached 323-8 after Western Province chose to bowl first.

Senuran Muthusamy made 61, while Sibonelo Makhanya and Patrick Kruger contributed 56 and 53 respectively. Tristan Stubbs added 46 before he was dismissed by Asakhe Tsaka.

Oliver Whitehead was Western Province’s most successful bowler with 3-57, while Dane Paterson claimed 2-67.

In Bloemfontein, the Knights closed on 17-3 after bowling the North West Dragons out for 251.

Diego Rosier scored 71 and Meeka-eel Prince made 64 for the Dragons. Dane Piedt claimed 4-63 and Malusi Siboto finished with 3-30.

Daryn Dupavillon then struck twice as the Knights lost three wickets in 6.3 overs, leaving them 234 runs behind at stumps.
