Lanka Premier League 2026: Dates, schedule, results and how to watch from India details
The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League got underway on July 17, with defending champions Jaffna Kings facing Galle Gallants at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo in a repeat of the 2024 final.
Five franchises are competing across 24 matches at four venues, running through to the final at the R Premadasa Stadium on August 8. Jaffna Kings began as favourites, having won four of the previous five editions.

LPL 2026 format explained
Each of the five teams plays the others twice during the league stage, producing a double round-robin across 20 matches. The top four sides in the points table qualify for the playoffs.
The first- and second-placed teams meet in Qualifier 1, while the third- and fourth-placed sides contest the Eliminator. The loser of Qualifier 1 then faces the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2, with the winner advancing to the final.
Two significant rule changes have been introduced this season. Teams can now use an Impact Substitute, and every playing XI must include at least one Under-23 Sri Lankan cricketer throughout the match, even after a substitution is made.
