Weston-super-Mare CC lost to Golden Hill with 95 on the board
In Weston-super-Mare’s most recent fixture in the West of England Premier League Division 2, the disappointing string of results continued with an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Golden Hill, writes John Scott.
"On winning the toss the home side invited Weston to bat.
"The now familiar clatter of early wickets ensued and the score board presented a sorry sight at 36 for 6.
"A dogged 18 from Jinesh and a spirited 25 from George Bemand took the visitors’ score to 95, but as has become too frequent, the allotted 50 overs were far from used, the innings closing in the 27th over.
"The formality of knocking off the runs was achieved in the 17th over, with Harry Gadsden and George Bemand taking a wicket apiece.

In the Somerset Cricket League Division 1, Weston 2nd XI hosted Wells & Horrington.
Winning the toss, the home side elected to bat first and accumulated 216 for 9 in their 45 overs.
Tim Foden top-scored with a well-made 41, followed by a classy 37 from the old warhorse, Andy Fear, an interesting 36 from Kamaljeet Singh, and a hard-hit 25 not out from Charlie Huke.
"A challenging target, but not challenging enough as the visitors eased home for the loss of four wickets in the 37th over."
In Division 5 North of the Somerset Cricket League, Weston 3rd XI came up against an unusually strong Bridgwater side.
After winning the toss, Weston chose to bat, and the first four batters gave the scorers absolutely no trouble at all, and only Maxwell, Antony, and Beal managed double figures, the innings closing in the twenty-first over for a paltry 61.
"This presented no problem to the home side who reached their target in the tenth over for the loss of just 1 wicket."
At home to Uphill Castle in the Somerset Cricket League Division 7 North, Weston 4th XI enjoyed a five-wicket victory after the visitors won the toss and chose to bat.
A total of 180 for 9 was achieved in the allotted 40 overs with the wickets being shared by the Weston bowlers.
"This presented no problem to Weston who charged home in 28 overs, the high lights being 81 not out from old stager John Mayo, 37 from Luke Buttery, and a very creditable 28 from young Henry Neave."
