Dubrugarh, July 22: Kamakhya Saikia, general secretary of the Dibrugarh District Sports Association and former joint secretary of the Assam Cricket Association, has been appointed manager of the Indian senior men’s cricket team for its tour of Zimbabwe.

Saikia travelled with the Indian squad on Monday and will serve as team manager until July 28. He will oversee the team’s administrative and logistical responsibilities during the tour.

India, led by Shreyas Iyer, will play a three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on July 23, 25 and 26.

Saikia’s appointment has been welcomed by the sporting fraternity in Assam as recognition of his contribution to cricket administration in the State.
