Tom Fletcher-Varey's sparkling 173 steers Brompton to 114-run success at Thornton Dale
Brompton skipper Tom Fletcher-Varey smashed a massive 173 off just 121 balls as his side roared to a 114-run YPLN Beckett Division 1 win at Thornton Dale.
Opener Fletcher-Varey hammered 28 fours and two sixes, sharing a great third-wicket stand of 151 with Piet Rinke (65) as Brompton racked up 314-6, Eddie Craggs taking 4-61.
All-rounder Craggs capped an impressive all-round show with a powerful 70 in just 32 balls, including nine fours and five sixes, but they were all out for 200 as Piet Rinke also completed a great all-round display with 4-17.
Ganton eased to a six-wicket win at rivals Filey.
James Richardson led the way for Ganton with 4-29 as Filey were dismissed for 120 in 38.3 overs, skipper Sean Pinder struck a plucky 52.
Openers Jack Heslehurst (36) and Robbie Milner (26) were the top-scorers as Ganton reached 122-4 with 21 overs to spare.
Joe Dunnett took a superb 5-22 in 11 overs as Ebberston earned a six-wicket home win against Bridlington 2nds.
Sam Hardie chipped in with 3-26 as Brid were all out for 115 in 36.5 overs.
Andy Smith top-scored with 32, while Ben Jackson added 27.
Ebberston looked in deep trouble at 30-4 but an excellent 64no from Michael Hirst steered the hosts to a win with 116-4 in 22 overs.
Fylingdales roared to an 86-run win at home to Scalby 2nds.
Mark Estill hammered a defiant 51 for Dales and Tom Shrimpton 26, a last-wicket stand of 38 between Justin Mayne (20no) and Jack Clarkson (14) helping the hosts to 162 all out from 44.1 overs.
Max Hesp was the top Scalby bowler with an excellent 5-51.
The visitors slumped to 11-4 but rallied briefly thanks to Craig Jenkinson’s 28 and Reuben Lacey’s 32, but Barry Heyes and Clarkson then took centre stage with brilliant bowling figures of 4-25 and 4-14 respectively as Scalby were slid from 54-5 to 76 all out in 33 overs.
Staithes remain undefeated after skipper Brad Lewis’ superb 115 not out earned them a six-wicket victory at Great Habton.
Ben Theaker took 3-19 as Habton were dismissed for 185, the total boosted by last-man Billy Garritty’s determined 42no, with Damien Cook hitting 39 and Josh Robertson 33.
Lewis then took charge of the run-chase, smashing 24 fours and a six in his 115no in 97 deliveries, Jeff Morrison adding 28no as the duo put on an undefeated 75 for the fifth wicket.
Aron Calvert’s excellent five-wicket haul helped Forge Valley carry on their strong start to the Division 2 season with a comfortable eight-wicket triumph at Staithes 2nds.
All-rounder Aron Calvert was the top Valley bowler with great figures of 5-29 as Staithes collapsed from 89-2 to 115 all out, Jed Marley taking 3-7.
Dan Belsham top-scored with 45 for the away team.
Charlie Baldwin’s undefeated 49 guided Valley to victory.
Flamborough’s Luke Dixon struck a brilliant 121 as his side earned a 25-run win at Scarborough Hospital.
Boro posted 237-7, and in reply the hosts were dismissed for 212, Dixon and Marcos Brown-Garcia taking three wickets apiece.
Mulgrave conceded their game at Sewerby, Cayton were handed the win by Settrington while Seamer 2nds conceded at Cloughton.
