Captain Ollie Dring looked to have made the right call when he won the toss and put hosts Scunthorpe Town into bat.

However, the Lincs Premier League Premier Division match swung decisively against Spalding when overseas professional Priyanshu Khanduri came to the wicket.

Dring caught two of the top order with wickets for Barnaby Dring, Nilantha Atapattu and two for Walter Kinlock to reduce Scunthorpe to 59/4.

Then the Indian all-rounder struck with a six and 27 4s in an unbeaten 128-ball 175, sharing a fifth-wicket partnership of 168 with Ian Snowden (47) as the hosts amassed a formidable 289/6 from their 50 overs.

Spalding were up against from the start of their innings, losing both openers with only 13 on the board.
Barnaby (27) and Ollie Dring (50) settled things down to move things along to 64/2 but when they fell it sparked a slump to 108/7.

Matthew Key (31) and Kinlock (38no) led a gallant late fightback and 61 was added for the last two wickets but Spalding eventually succumbed for 191 in the 37th over.

Harry Doyle was their main tormentor, taking 5-63, although all six home bowlers gained reward.

Ruari Drumm (80) top-scored for Moulton Harrox in their four-wicket Championship South defeat at home to Orton Park.

He went in at first wicket down and took his team from 8/1 to 166/4, sharing decent stands with opener Nathan Oliver (34) and Josh Newton (18).

When he was dismissed, it was left to Charlie Poulter (28no) and Harry Lovell (28no) to keep things ticking over as the hosts reached 214/7 from their 50 overs.

Captain Matt Rose (3-39) claimed the first three Orton batsmen but a 139-run stand for the second wicket between Tom Wilkin (96) and Clive Evans (37) meant the visitors had reached 170/3 by then.

Despite the efforts of Harry Lovell (2-31) and a wicket for Oliver Despicht (1-29), Orton reached their target with four wickets and 10 balls to spare.

Moulton Seconds slipped to the foot of the Division One South table after crashing to a 246-run defeat at Castor & Ailsworth.

They were made to suffer by Reece Smith-York (163no), Ryan Evans (106no) and Jason Dunn (56) who led the hosts from 27/2 to 372/3, sharing mammoth stands of 117 and 228.

Lewis Peak (43) and opener Jamie Juckes (32) shared a useful second-wicket partnership but no.10 batsman Shanaka Sumanapala (13no) was the only other one to reach double figures as they were all out for 126 in the 38th over.

There was better news for Long Sutton, who completed a three-wicket win against Billingborough.

Daniel Oldfield removed Warren Nel (37) with a caught and bowled to end an opening stand of 74 with Matt Carter (57) and the remaining nine wickets yielded only 66 more runs.

Rob Simpson (4-20) and Oldfield (4-31) led the charge to leave Billingborough all out for 140 in the 40th over.

Despite Cater’s 4-35, Sutton scored throughout their innings with Calvin Bird (27), Ali Drohan (24) and Barry Stanway (23) keeping the scoreboard ticking over on the way to a winning 141/7 in the 26th over.

Spalding Seconds used up all but one ball of their 45 overs in a failed chase to catch Ketton Sports Seconds in Division Two South.

Will Stevenson (103), Charlie Anslow (58) and Spike Marlow (50) scored the bulk of Ketton’s 289/8. James Frascella (2-38), Dan Mulley (2-63), Max Cooper (2-64) and Lily Hooker (1-29) all had success with the ball for the hosts.

Mike Kearns (98) took up the challenge in reply, falling just two runs short of a century. He found solid support from William Clark (43), Elliot Humphreys (36), captain Mulley (32) and Phil Lewis (29) .

With five of their colleagues managing only a single run between them, it proved to be an impossible task and Spalding’s chase ended 30 runs short.
