Ganguly Anticipates a Thrilling India-Pakistan Encounter

Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has shared his excitement regarding the upcoming T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan, expressing his desire for it to be a 'high voltage' encounter. He remarked that recent matches between the two teams have lacked intensity, stating, 'It should be high voltage. There hasn't been high voltage for the past few years. The quality of the match should be good. Hope it happens tomorrow.' Ganguly emphasized India's strength as a team, hoping they perform well not only in this match but throughout the tournament.

Historically, India boasts a 7-1 record against Pakistan in World Cup encounters. Ganguly criticized the previous decision by the Pakistan government to avoid playing against India, calling it 'a wrong decision.' He added, 'Cricket should be played; how can you miss the World Cup? It is good that they played. It is good for them too because losing points is not right.'

Positive News on Abhishek Sharma's Fitness

In response to a question about team dynamics, Ganguly noted that both teams are well-matched, but he believes India holds a significant advantage. He highlighted the fitness of Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma as 'very good news for India.'

Sharma had recently recovered from a stomach infection that sidelined him during the T20 World Cup match against Namibia in Delhi. He was spotted practicing in the nets ahead of the crucial match against Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday in Colombo.

After a disappointing performance in the opening match against the USA, where he was dismissed for a golden duck, Sharma was hospitalized due to his illness. Reports from BCCI sources indicated that he was unwell during a team dinner at head coach Gautam Gambhir's home, leaving early. While there has been no official confirmation regarding his participation, his presence in the nets is seen as a positive sign.
