RCB Sets New Record with Sixes Against CSK in IPL 2026
Bengaluru, April 5: In the 11th match of IPL 2026, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium. Batting first, RCB scored an impressive 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 20 overs, setting a new record for the most sixes hit against CSK in IPL history.
RCB’s batsmen hit a total of 19 sixes during the match, breaking the previous record held by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who had hit 17 sixes against CSK in matches during 2018 and 2020. In this match, RCB’s batsmen also managed to hit more sixes than fours, scoring 14 fours alongside their 19 sixes.
After losing the toss, RCB opened their innings with a steady start from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, who together added 37 runs for the first wicket. Kohli scored 28 runs off 18 balls before getting out, while Salt contributed 46 runs off 30 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Devdutt Padikkal showcased excellent form, scoring 50 runs off just 29 balls. Rajat Patidar also impressed with a quickfire 48 runs off 19 balls, maintaining a strike rate of 252.
Tim David played a sensational innings, scoring 70 runs off just 25 balls at a strike rate of 280, hitting 3 fours and 8 towering sixes. David and Patidar formed an unbroken partnership of 99 runs for the fourth wicket in just 35 balls. CSK’s bowlers struggled throughout the match, with Anshul Kamboj conceding 52 runs for just one wicket in his 4 overs. Noor Ahmad gave away 49 runs in 4 overs, while Khaleel Ahmed and Matt Henry also had expensive outings, with Henry leaking 36 runs in just 3 overs.
