A 62-run success against St Chad’s Broomfield made it 11 wins from 12 league matches this season and kept Newton Hill just a point behind the top of the table team with a game in hand.

They recovered from the loss of two early wickets to post a decent 204 score as Russell Harris played a real captain’s knock only to be unlucky not to complete a century.

He fell one run short on 99 after hitting five sixes and 14 fours in his super 89-ball knock.

Support came from Sanjo Punnasseril Joseph (33) and Baiju Pappachan (21).

St Chad’s were dismissed for 142 with Joseph, Jijo Mathew and Tom Thomas taking two wickets each.

Division One leaders Thorpe Audlin kept their challenge going with a seven-wicket win over Rossington Main.

Chris Roughley (51no) and Jamie Evans (37no) brought them home as they overhauled their opponents’ 174. Jack Unwin also contributed 39 and Rory Dixon 34.

Matthew Faulkner (4-32), Robert Iveson (3-33) and Chamila Wijesinghe (3-53) claimed the Rossington wickets.

Whitley Bridge won a derby game by 25 runs against Ferrybridge Power Station after making 151 with Lewis Longstaff (48) top scoring.

Sam Angel took 5-14 and Joseph Patrickson 3-29 for Ferry, but they were all out for 126 in their reply despite 62 from Jack Hart.

Diljit Singh (3-33) and Matthew Banks (3-26) were the main wicket takers for Bridge.

Featherstone Town maintained their promotion bid with a six-wicket success against Batley thirds.

Varinder Ghuman (57) and Vipin Reddy (36) led them home after Batley had been kept to 155 with Alexander Rusling (3-20) the pick of the bowlers.

Knottingley Town boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier Division when they won a thriller against Calder Grove.

Second from bottom Town had only previously recorded two victories in the league this year, but successfully chased down a 191 total posted by their opponents.

They won with almost 10 overs to spare, but after wickets went down they needed their last pair at the crease to get them over the line with an unbroken stand of 13 proving match winning.

Last man Craig Tucker played his part with 5no, but it was Bradley Davis who was the senior partner as he finished with a crucial unbeaten 55, made from 44 balls.

Opener Harvey Bukhari also made a big contribution with 53 as he hit 10 fours.

Calder Grove’s innings had included 47 from James Davies, 42 by Michael Townend, 35 by Harry Fox and 30 from Ryan Jones, but they were restricted by Dipendra Malla (5-40), Lahiru Pathirana and skipper Bukhari who claimed two wickets each.

Harry Fox claimed 6-39 to be the pick of the Grove bowlers.

Hemsworth MW ended a run of defeats with a seven-wicket success against bottom of the table Nostell St Oswald.

Good bowling from Alfie Taberner (5-22) and Lee Perks (3-45) paved the way as Nostell were dismissed for 190 despite Ali Martin hitting 44, Simon Rayner 35 and Morgan Wheelan 32.

Dhiren Patel (46) and Perks (45) then top scored as Hemsworth raced to their target with more than 13 overs to spare.

Premier leaders South Kirkby suffered only their second defeat as they were bowled out for only 78 against Brodsworth Main.

They remain eight points clear at the top with Brodsworth a further 24 points back in third, but cannot afford many more poor batting displays.

Hedley-Paul Keegan (24) top scored, but Main sailed to a 10-wicket success.

Elsewhere in the Premier there were defeats for Normanton MIB and Old Sharlston.

Normanton MIB were unable to keep up their recent momentum as they were bowled out for 122 and lost by six wickets to Pollington.

In a disappointing batting display Wasim Malik top scored with 26.

Sixth-placed Old Sharlston lost ground when they were shot out for 87 to lose by 169 runs to Askern Welfare.

Only Berlin Bernadin (21) and Danny Bullock (20) were able to put up much resistance, although there were good bowling efforts from Sharlston’s Dale McMullen (4-61) and Ryan Kelsall (3-55).

Horbury Bridge moved up to second place in the Championship following an 82-run success against leaders Darton.

The win took them to within six points of the table toppers and came thanks to a fine effort in the field, led by Tom Womersley’s 3-20 and Jack Waring’s 3-35 as Darton were dismissed for 100.

They were replying to Bridge’s 182, which included contributions from Kash Baig (38), Andrew Waterson (35) and Arslan Shahid (33).

Notton Challengers posted a challenging 212-9 total, but were beaten by three wickets by Glasshoughton.

Faisal Yameen hit 10 fours as he top scored with 55, while support came from Kiran Guntaka (38), Saad Shaik (27), Majid Abdul (27) and Nasser Siddiqui (22no).

But Glasshoughton were able to chase down the target despite 3-51 from Vaishakh Mahadevan and 3-56 by Yameen as Jack Lowe led the way with 67 from just 43 balls.

Lowe hit 11 fours and a six and was supported by Max Dakin (41) and Clinton Speight (27).

Speight also bowled well for Glasshoughton as he claimed 5-47. Iwan Raven also took 3-50.
