Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi awarded the winner’s medals and trophy to Pakistan after the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 against India on Sunday.

There was no Indian representative at the trophy presentation. Ayush Mhatre received the runner’s-up cheque from Mirwais Ashraf, the chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Naqvi, also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and an interior minister in the nation’s government, had made headlines after the senior Asia Cup when India reportedly refused to receive the award from him.

After a delay of over an hour due to the Pakistan team refusing to turn up for the presentation ceremony, Naqvi then left the venue with the Asia Cup trophy to the ACC office in Dubai.

The Indian players celebrated with the champion’s banner instead. Adding a touch of humour, skipper Suryakumar Yadav carried an “imaginary” trophy and mimicked Rohit Sharma’s slow walk from last year’s T20 World Cup final.

The issue was discussed on the sidelines of the ICC meeting in Dubai after the BCCI and Naqvi failed to arrive at an agreement. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Sportstar in November that both parties will work closely to break the deadlock at the earliest.
