Suryakumar Yadav unleashes Kuldeep Yadav vs Pakistan, alleges ‘unfair advantage’ for Salman Ali Agha & Co.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav has hinted that Kuldeep Yadav is likely to play in the upcoming match against Pakistan. The high-voltage clash in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place on Sunday (February 15) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The left-arm spinner failed to find a place in India's playing XI for the first two matches of the tournament. In both the matches, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel were India's main spinners. However, the Men in Blue will be tempted to recall Kuldeep Yadav to the playing XI thanks to the conditions in Colombo.
Historically, the venue has assisted spinners thanks to the two-paced and sluggish surface. Batters have usually struggled in Colombo and it is quite evident from the fact that the average first innings score is less than 150 runs. On the other hand, the average second innings score is just 128.
Kuldeep Yadav to play against Pakistan, hints Suryakumar Yadav:
With conditions in Colombo likely to assist the spin bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav looks set to be a part of the playing XI. Speaking to the media ahead of the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav stated that the team-management picks the team based on not only conditions but matchups as well.
"This is not bilateral or franchise cricket. You have to come up with combinations based on matchups as well," said Suryakumar.
When asked if it was a sign that Kuldeep Yadav would play, he said: "Do you want him to play? Okay then he will play."
'We will focus on our strength'
Speaking further, Suryakumar stated that the Indian team is focusing only on its strength and not on the opposition. Even though India will start the match as favourites, Suryakumar made it clear that he is not taking Pakistan lightly, saying that the Men in Green have been playing good cricket.
He also pointed out that Pakistan will have a big advantage going into the match since they have already played two matches in Colombo. While India played their first two matches at home, Pakistan played theirs in Colombo.
