Buckden Cricket Club celebrated the first season of its successful new campaign, which attracted more than 35 children who participated in the action over the eight-week period.

The England and Wales Cricket Board’s All Stars and Dynamos programmes are initiatives designed to introduce youngsters to cricket.

The sessions aim to introduce children to cricket through fun games, skill-based coaching, and engaging activities.

Held on Thursday evenings at Buckden Playing Field, it was described as an “instant hit” with local families.

More than half the children who signed up were new to cricket, and over 25 children went on to play matches for the club across the Under-9 and Under-11 matches on Sundays this season.

Junior cricket coach, Adam Long, said: “Seeing so many children discover a love of cricket has been brilliant, and we’ve even had to arrange extra fixtures to make sure everyone gets a game.

“We’re looking forward to building on that momentum next season.”

Cricket East also supported the club throughout the process.

Buckden Cricket Club is now looking forward to the next season, hoping to continue to attract young players.
