Fred Huggett deserved credit for sticking at it and removed Johnny Mills with an excellent delivery after the opener had launched a brutal counter-attack. Mills’ innings of 85 from 37 balls ultimately proved decisive.

Lewis also picked up a wicket but Southwater’s attacking approach eventually proved too much as they reached 155-4 in 22.4 overs

West Wittering 2nd v Birdham

Division 8 West

The latest chapter in one of the Manhood Peninsula's longest-running cricket rivalries saw West Wittering twos emerge victorious over their friends from Birdham.

After winning the toss, West Wittering captain Kev Allsobrook elected to field first and Birdham opener Michael Clowes was soon caught behind by Mark Taylor off the bowling of Jack Allsobrook.

Wittering gradually wrestled back control. Jack Allsobrook finished with 3-18, adding a superb run-out to his contribution. Ollie Bowman claimed 3-49, Poppy Hutton 2-41, while Charlie Taylor chipped in with 1-24 and took an excellent catch.
