Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi turned their Duleep Trophy 2026 victory celebration into a fun moment after the East Zone was crowned champions on September 10. The Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone ended in a draw, but East Zone won the title because of their first-innings lead.

The biggest talking point after the summit clash was the DRS drama involving Kishan and Vaibhav. The 15-year-old made some successful review calls during the Duleep Trophy 2026 final, including one that went viral on social media. Earlier, Sourav Ganguly backs Mohammed Shami, but gives no 2027 World Cup guarantee.

Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s fun banter goes viral after Duleep Trophy 2026 final

During a light-hearted chat after the match shared by the BCCI’s domestic page on X, Ishan Kishan joked that he was already planning to take the review, but Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made the call so confidently that he ended up getting all the credit online.

Ishan Kishan said on the BCCI Domestic video on X: "What happened? What are you talking about? Tell me too. Ask me questions too. I want to know what he was answering. He's taken all the credit in the review everywhere."

"Although I was going to take the review, he came up and said it so confidently that I will just walk over to you, and then the internet will be like: Vaibhav! My goodness! Vaibhav is the one! So he played that role very well. I'm very happy."

Sooryavanshi was quick to remind his captain about the time Kishan was off the field and he was leading the side. During his captaincy period, Mohammed Shami dismissed Smaran Ravichandran after getting an edge behind the wicket.

Wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra appealed, and Vaibhav immediately signalled for DRS. The review went East Zone’s way, and Smaran had to walk out. Vaibhav responded by saying, "When you were going off the field, who was taking the reviews then? Tell us that too."

Later, Kishan has showered rich praise on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He highlighted not only the teenager’s batting talent but also his attitude with teammates. The East Zone captain said the left-hander looks after both senior and junior players and helps keep the team environment positive.

Kishan also backed Vaibhav to achieve much more in the future. Earlier, Delhi Capitals takes hilarious dig at KL Rahul over coffee post amid KKR rumours.

The Indian wicketkeeper said, "But it's very good to have him in the team because, more than a very good player, he's a very nice boy who takes care of each and everyone in the team, whether it is a junior player or senior.”

He further shared, “That is one quality that I love about him, and hopefully he will be more dangerous than what he is today. I think it is not going to be his first or last. He is going to play many more like this and keep performing the way he is doing right now.”

Vaibhav eyes strong comeback against Afghanistan after cold final

However, Vaibhav didn’t make a big impact with the bat for the East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against the South Zone. He scored 44 runs from 37 balls in the first innings, hitting five fours and a six, and then managed only eight runs in the second innings.

However, the teenager will aim to bounce back strongly in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi, starting on September 13.
