The visitors suffered defeat in the opening match before producing an impressive response in the second game to earn a convincing 67-run victory.

Captain Stephen Maxwell won the toss in the first encounter on an unusually overcast afternoon and elected to bat first.

Maxwell and Kenny Maxwell made a bright start, racing to 27 from just 16 deliveries before the skipper was undone by a delivery that stayed low.

The difficult pitch continued to trouble the Enniskillen batsmen, with Kenny Maxwell and the in-form Manji Gurung both gloving lifting deliveries through to the wicketkeeper.

Devin Carrihill looked set after surviving an uncertain start but was also caught behind after another ball reared unexpectedly from a good length, although there was some debate over whether he had made contact.

Bibin John and Satheesh Puthenveetil steadied the innings with a valuable partnership, batting sensibly to guide Enniskillen to 136 for nine from their 20 overs.

Puthenveetil top scored with 28, John added 26 and Carrihill contributed 23 to give the visitors a competitive total.

However, Enniskillen were unable to build pressure with the ball as Lurgan took advantage of some wayward bowling and untidy fielding to chase down the target comfortably, securing a seven-wicket victory with overs to spare.

After the interval, Maxwell again won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first.

Having gained a better understanding of the pitch, Enniskillen's batsmen adopted a far more positive approach and piled up an imposing 201 for seven.

The innings was built around two outstanding knocks from Gurung and Carrihill.

Gurung blasted a superb 67 from just 32 deliveries, finding the boundary regularly as he dominated the Lurgan attack.

Carrihill was equally destructive, striking 79 from 52 balls in a commanding display of clean hitting as the pair put the home bowlers firmly on the back foot.

With the rest of the batting line-up providing valuable support to keep the scoreboard moving, Enniskillen finished with a total that always looked likely to test the hosts.

This time the visitors backed up their batting performance with a disciplined display in the field.

Having struggled for consistency in the first game, Enniskillen's bowlers were much more accurate after the break, while Maxwell rotated his attack effectively, mixing pace and spin to prevent the Lurgan batsmen from settling.

Returning bowler Jaice Cherian was the standout performer, producing an outstanding spell of four wickets for just 10 runs from his four overs.

Puthenveetil also impressed with figures of three for 24, while Carrihill completed an excellent all-round display by claiming two wickets for 12 runs.

Lurgan were eventually dismissed for 134 in the final over, handing Enniskillen a deserved 67-run victory and ensuring the honours were shared across the two matches.

Although disappointed not to complete a clean sweep after letting the opening game slip away, skipper Maxwell praised his side's character in bouncing back so strongly in the second contest.

Attention now turns to this Saturday's Development Cup quarter-final, when Enniskillen welcome NIMA Cricket Club to Pollock Park for a 1pm start.

Victory would see the local side reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time, with supporters encouraged to come along and cheer the team on.
