India have been left sweating just a couple of days before the first T20I against Afghanistan as Ishan Kishan suffered an injury scare during a practice session on Friday, September 11. Kishan, who had joined the team after leading East Zone to the Duleep Trophy title, appeared to have hurt his back while batting in the nets. Kishan was trying to duck a bouncer from Navdeep Saini, who was working as a net bowler for the Indian team.

The physios quickly attended to Kishan, who appeared to be in some discomfort. The incident happened towards the end of his 45-minute session and he didn't bat after that.

Thankfully, Kishan was able to walk after the issue and sat down on the ice box with his teammates before going off the field. From the visuals from the boundary, it didn't seem like a serious issue as Kishan was able to leave the field on his own.

Following his session, Ishan was also seen having a brief chat with Navdeep Saini as well.

KISHAN LOOKED IN FINE TOUCH

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter appeared to be in good rhythm during the 45-minute session. He looked to be fluent with his strokeplay and batted alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer during the session. On the other side, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen batting alongside Sanju Samson as the duo could battle it out for the opener's spot on Sunday.

Kishan has been a vital cog in the Indian team ever since making his return to the side. After impressing during last year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Jharkhand wicketkeeper came into the Indian team just ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Kishan has scored 812 runs from 23 T20Is in 2026, which is the second-highest this year. India will be hoping that the issue for Kishan is a minor one as the wicketkeeper-batter will also be on the flight to Japan, where he will be part of the Asian Games squad as well.

India and Afghanistan will face each other in the 1st T20I on Sunday, September 13.
