Before Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became a name known to cricket fans, much of his training took place close to home in Bihar. His family did not have to travel far to find a place where he could practise. His father built a cricket practice area beside their house, giving the young batter space to work on his game. Located in Tajpur, in Bihar’s Samastipur district, the family home is simple and practical. But the cricket nets nearby tell an important part of Vaibhav’s story: the role his family played in helping him follow his dream.

Inside Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s ancestral home in Bihar

Vaibhav’s family home is in Motipur village, near Tajpur. The house has two floors, a small balcony and open space around it. It is very different from the luxury homes often linked with famous sportspersons. The house became an important part of Vaibhav’s early cricket journey. His father, Sanjeev Sooryavanshi, recognised his son’s interest in cricket at a young age and worked to give him regular practice. A report by NDTV described the home as a modest family property. It also reported that the house is estimated to be worth between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, citing property platform NoBroker. This is a reported estimate, not a confirmed sale price.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s backyard cricket ground that made him world famous

One of the most interesting features of the property is the practice area built next to the home. “It has got netted section with concrete pitch and turf pitch so Vaibhav can practise different types of shots and face bowlers regularly. A report by The Indian Express in May 2025 explained how his father built the practice pitch and invited local and university bowlers to bowl to him. His uncle, Rajeev Sooryavanshi, told the newspaper that the family also arranged food and sometimes travel costs for the bowlers who came to help.

This meant Vaibhav could practise at home without depending only on a formal cricket academy. The family later sent him to train at a cricket academy in Patna as well. The backyard setup was not just a place to spend time with a bat and ball. It gave him a chance to practise often and learn from different bowlers.

How Vaibhav's family supported his cricket dream

Vaibhav’s progress took years of work from his family. His father took him to a cricket academy in Patna several times a week, even though the journey from their village was about 90 kilometres. His mother, Aarti, also played an important role. According to The Indian Express, she woke up early to prepare and pack meals for the trips. The family adjusted its daily routine around his training. His father had once hoped to make a name for himself in cricket. He later focused on helping his son get the opportunities he had not received. The support helped Vaibhav move from practice in his hometown to playing at a higher level. His rise also brought attention to the work that happens away from stadiums and television cameras.

From Vaibhav's Bihar village to owning a Rs 3 crore Mumbai apartment

Vaibhav’s growing success in the Indian Premier League has taken him into a very different world from the one in which he began playing cricket. NDTV reported that he bought an apartment in Mumbai estimated to be worth Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3 crore after his IPL success. The report did not present this as a confirmed purchase price from a property transaction, so the figure should be treated as a reported estimate. His growing profile has brought attention to both homes: the apartment linked to his professional success and the family house where he developed his game.

Why Vaibhav's Bihar home remains an important part of his journey

Vaibhav’s journey is not only about scoring runs or making headlines in the IPL. It is also about the practice sessions, long journeys and family support that helped him reach this stage. The cricket nets beside his Bihar home offer a clear picture of those early years. While his career may take him to bigger grounds and new cities, the place where he learnt and practised remains a key part of his story.
