Ashcombe Park, Bagnall Norton, Cheadle, Knypersley and Elworth also secure victories in North Staffs and South Cheshire League Premier B

Zaighum Abbas delivered a star turn with bat and ball to inspire Wood Lane to an easy NSSCL Premier B home victory over Rode Park & Lawton.

Wood Lane took first use and although Martin Dawson (38) and Louis Kidd (29) impressed, they found themselves 137-8 at one point.

But tailender Abbas rode to the rescue as he blazed 59, off just 29 balls, to lead his side to 217 all out.

His innings featured seven fours and four sixes, while Jamie Heath grabbed 4-52 for Rode Park & Lawton.

There were also a couple of wickets apiece for Joel Gallimore and Richard Bebbington.

Abbas then transferred his batting exploits into matters with the ball to rout Rode Park & Lawton.

He helped himself to 8-30 to send the visitors sliding to 90 all out in their run chase.

Lee Evans top-scored with 14, while Bebbington, Lewis Bent and Jonathan Gallimore all made 13.

Knypersley’s Shoaib Akhtar was on the ton trail in their victory at Norton in Hales.

Opener Akhtar took just 125 deliveries to make 146, hitting 21 fours and four sixes, as Knype piled up 250 all out.

Skipper Paul Goodwin lent valuable with 56, including 12 boundaries.

Sajith Priyal De Silva Lamahewage (3-5) and Salman Khan (3-54) took the bowling plaudits for the Tractor Boys.

Ronan Farnell (36), Lamahewage (30) and Fred Furnival (26) all made starts in the hosts’ reply.

However, there wasn’t another sizeable score and Norton in Hales were dismissed for 167.

Joe Dutton and Toby Fallows picked up 3-21 and 3-47 respectively, with Goodwin adding a couple of scalps.

Matthew Arnold was another batsman to reach three figures as his Bagnall Norton side made it 12 wins in 13 outings by taking the points at home against Hem Heath 2nd XI.

The table-toppers made their way to 248-3 declared on the back of Arnold’s 110 not out, which contained 14 fours and one six.

Matthew Kenvyn added 51 not out, hitting six boundaries and one maximum, after Hafiz Suleman (32) and Euan Hurst (28) had also made impacts.

Ben Ford replied with a run-a-ball 81, featuring 13 fours and two sixes, while Saj Patel (24) and Jaidel Richardson (20) were also in fine fettle.

But Scott Winnington’s haul of 5-29 was integral to Hem Heath being bowled out for 149.

Second-placed Cheadle were on easy street as they crushed Alsager.

Hosts Cheadle saw Ali Khan and Austen Crump enjoy themselves with the bat as they stuck 270-7 on the board from their 55 overs.

Khan’s 95 included eight fours and four sixes, with Crump hitting 16 boundaries in his 86.

Muzammil Nazim claimed 3-79 for the visitors and there was a double strike from Waqas Hussain.

Alsager’s reply never got off the ground as they were hustled out for a mere 96.

Sam Goodwin’s 17 was the top score, with Hussain (16) and Sean Price (15) also making contributions.

Will Dobbie and Jack Hassall captured 3-16 and 3-21 respectively, with the other four wickets being shared by James Sellers and Ryan Elwell.

Elworth, in third, secured a two-wicket win at Stone SP seconds.

Phil Cheadle’s 78, which contained 10 fours, was the main effort in Stone SP’s 195 all out in the first half of the match.

Sam Butters (23) and William Farrow (21) also kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Alex Banks (3-35), Jarrod McKay (3-41) and Chris Winter (3-60) were the main men with the ball for the Cheshire visitors.

In reply, Araash Raheja compiled 71, hitting 12 fours and one six in the process, to spearhead the Elworth charge.

And Russ Ballard (35) and Harry Newton (33) also shone to lead Elworth to the winning line.

Mikey Parker (3-30) and Reuben Hall (3-47) kept Stone SP in the contest until the closing stages.

Ashcombe Park ran out five-wicket winners at home against Barlaston.

Rory Jones (37), 32 apiece from Tom Taylor and Jack Davies, 27 from Brian Sims and Jon Taylor’s 22 helped Barlaston to 216-9.

Riecko Parker-Cole claimed 4-72 for the home side.

That target proved to be no problem for the home side as they pocketed the points inside 40 overs.

Haroon Mahmood fronted the successful chase with 58, which included 10 fours.

Charlie Knott (45), Asif Raza (36), Kamran Abbasi (23) and Joe Harrison (22no) also played their part.

Ethan Squire took two of the wickets to fall for Barlaston.
