“Heartbreaking to watch”: Twitter reacts as Pakistan annihilate Vaibhav Suryavanshi-starrer India in U19 Asia Cup final
The India U19 vs Pakistan U19 clash turned into a one-sided affair at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Sunday (December 21). The Ayush Mhatre-led India U19 team suffered a humiliating defeat of 191 runs in the U19 Asia Cup 2025 Final in Dubai.
India U19 looked dominant throughout the tournament, playing fearless and confident cricket. They were unbeaten in the group stage, having crushed Pakistan, UAE, and Malaysia, and then crushed Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the semifinals. However, the big final brought a different challenge, and they went on to face an embarrassing defeat.
Pakistan clinches record 12th U19 Asia Cup title after thrashing India in the final
Under intense pressure, India tumbled against Pakistan when it mattered the most, despite coming into the U19 Asia Cup 2025 Final as the only undefeated team in the tournament. After winning the toss, Ayush Mhatre has asked the Farhan Yousaf-led Pakistan U19 team to bat first, and they made the most of the offered opportunity at the ICC Academy Ground.
Sameer Minhas put India U19 under pressure right from the start by smashing a quick fifty off just 29 balls. He went on to play a stunning knock of 172 off 113 balls, laced with 17 boundaries and 9 sixes. Ahmed Hussain played the best supportive hand for Minhas against the Indian side.
The duo stitched a stunning 137-run partnership for the third wicket to power Pakistan to a huge total of 347 for 8 on the board in 50 overs against India U19. Hussain chipped in with a classy 56 off 72 balls, featuring two boundaries and one six in the title clash.
India managed to spark a collapse, but the damage was already done. Deepesh Devendran was the standout for India with a three-wicket haul, while Henil Patel and Khilan Patel each scalped two wickets. Kanishk Chouhan also got one wicket against Pakistan.
Meanwhile, India’s chase completely fell apart in the U19 Asia Cup 2025 final under heavy pressure. Chasing the massive target of 348, Indian batters kept losing wickets. They had a terrible start, as the skipper Ayush Mhatre was dismissed cheaply for 2, while Aaron George was removed for just 16 runs off 9 balls.
And then India lost its big wicket in the form of Vaibhav Suryavanshi (26), which led to a shocking batting collapse in Dubai. India slipped to 94 for 7 in the summit clash against Pakistan. Khilan Patel showed some resistance, but the lack of partnerships and early collapse made things worse for them.
They were eventually bowled out for just 156 runs inside 27 overs, thanks to a late fight from Deepesh Devendran (36 runs off just 16 balls), as Pakistan 19 won the U19 Asia Cup 2025 final by runs on Sunday in Dubai. Devendran was the leading run scorer for India.
Ali Raza starred with the ball, taking four wickets, while Mohammad Sayyam, Huzaifa Ahsan, and Abdul Subhan each got two successes in the title clash on Sunday.
