The game was held in memory of Les Walker and played between Ardleigh Green and Havering-atte-Bower Cricket Club (AGHABCC) and Hornchurch Football Club on Sunday, June 28.

After 20 overs, the teams were tied, forcing a super over that saw AGHABCC clinch victory for the second consecutive year.

On that day, £570 was raised for the British Heart Foundation, in addition to £951 raised at the previous year’s match and £1,000 from other fundraising activities, bringing the total to £2,521.

A further £4,529 was donated in lieu of flowers at Mr Walker’s funeral, following the family’s wishes.

The match now awards the Les Walker Memorial Trophy.

A spokesperson for AGHABCC said: "The weather for both matches has been perfect, enhancing the enjoyment of the day further.

"Both days were supported extremely well, with raffle prizes being donated, along with money too.

"Donations were also received online which were not included in the final sums raised on the day."

The club said the memorial match will continue as an annual fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation.
