Veteran batter Sharjeel Khan has made it clear that representing Pakistan remains his top priority after returning to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) following a two-year absence.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, the 38-year-old emphasized that his focus has not shifted despite playing occasional tournaments in the United States.

“My priority has always been to play for Pakistan, and now that things have started again, I will continue to give my best,” Sharjeel said.

The left-handed opener dismissed any speculation about settling abroad or committing to overseas leagues, stating that his participation outside Pakistan is limited and temporary.

Moreover, reflecting on his journey, the experienced batter highlighted the importance of taking opportunities and learning from different experiences. He also revealed that he used his two-year absence from the PSL to improve his fitness and prepare for a strong return.

“Being a professional player, whenever you get an opportunity, you should take it. If you don’t gain different experiences, you cannot learn,” he said.

The veteran has represented Pakistan in one Test, 25 ODIs, and 21 T20Is. In T20 internationals, he has scored 406 runs at a strike rate of 133.11, including two half-centuries. His last appearance for Pakistan came against the West Indies in Providence on August 3, 2021.

On his PSL return, Sharjeel delivered an impressive performance, scoring 51 off 26 balls with three fours and four sixes. However, his effort was not enough as Hyderabad Kingsmen fell short in a high-scoring encounter.

Batting first at Gaddafi Stadium, the Kingsmen posted 225 for five in their 20 overs. The total was built on half-centuries from Sharjeel and Maaz Sadaqat, with Maaz top-scoring with 62 off 26 deliveries.

For Multan Sultans, Mohammad Wasim Jr led the bowling attack with two wickets for 37 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle, and captain Ashton Turner claimed one wicket each.
