Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may have had a disappointing start to his international career in the recent five-match T20I series against England, but the 15-year-old has now received massive support from Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series.

Raza believes that the teenage Indian batter has the talent to become one of the biggest stars in world cricket despite failing to make a big impact in the three innings in England.

Ahead of the T20I series opener, Sikandar Raza feels it is too early to judge a player who is only 15 years old after just a couple of failures at the highest level. He has stressed that Vaibhav has already shown exceptional talent and should be given enough time to learn and improve his game.

The Zimbabwe captain also said that the way India manages the teenager over the next few years will be very important. Raza said that if Vaibhav gets the right guidance, he can become a once-in-a-generation cricketer.

Sikandar Raza said on JioHotStar: “Vaibhav is a supremely talented cricketer. If a 15-year-old kid is playing international cricket and if you start criticizing him after just two or three matches, I think this isn't justified. I think Vaibhav has a lot of very good senior cricketers around him. If he is managed and handled really well, I think Vaibhav could be a generational talent.”

Zimbabwe tour gives Vaibhav Sooryavanshi perfect opportunity to silence critics

Well, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has returned to Zimbabwe, where he played one of the greatest knocks of his young career during the ICC Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. He had smashed a stunning 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final against England to help India win the title.

With Sanju Samson rested for the tour, Vaibhav is likely to get all three matches against Zimbabwe to prove himself. After scoring only 14, 13, and 15 in the England T20I series, the young opener will be eager to make a strong comeback.
