ALREWAS returned from Sandiacre Town empty-handed after a three-wicket defeat.

The Herons were sent in to bat first, making a solid start as they reached 40 before Gareth Woolley became the first wicket to fall.

His opening partner James Burton made 41 from 71 balls before he went with the score on 76.

Stephen Cole made an unbeaten 52 as the 50 overs eventually finished on 202-7.

The Sandiacre openers proved a tough nut to crack as they reached 85 before Cole caught Muhammad Bin Naeem off the bowling of William Hodgkinson to break the partnership.

Opener Rahib Ali’s 42 moved them along to 120 before he became the fourth wicket to fall when he was skittled by Ollie Broadway.

Alrewas kept pushing, but ultimately could not prevent Sandiacre passing the target with three wickets in hand.
