The Proteas batter suffered a side strain before the IPL 2026 season began. He missed matches against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS). MS Dhoni also missed games due to a calf injury. Brevis is currently training in the practice nets, but the CSK management is avoiding rushing his return.

Dewald Brevis Set To Miss RCB Clash, Likely To Return Against DC

Rohit Juglan from RevSportz provided an update on the fitness of Dewald Brevis. Juglan stated that Brevis will miss the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Chennai Super Kings management want to avoid a fitness relapse before allowing the South African batter to return to competitive cricket.

Dewald Brevis is expected to return against Delhi Capitals (DC). Chennai Super Kings will host Delhi Capitals at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on April 11. Axar Patel led Delhi Capitals to a victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their opening game of the season.

Delhi Capitals also defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets. They have four points with a net run rate of +1.170. Chennai Super Kings expect Dewald Brevis to provide stability in the middle order against Delhi Capitals when he returns from his side strain injury.

Chennai Super Kings lost their first game against Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets after scoring 127 runs in Guwahati. In their second match, Chennai Super Kings posted 209 runs against Punjab Kings, but Punjab chased down the target to win by five wickets in Chennai.
