Two fine individual performances helped steer Market Deeping to a victory double in the Lincolnshire Premier League on Saturday.

A brutal batting onslaught from Lyndon James helped the first team to a crushing win while Aqeel Khan producing a devasting bowling display in the second string's away success.

James, a first-class cricketer with Nottinghamshire, smashed 186 as Deeping beat Boston by 293 runs in Championship South while Khan claimed seven wickets as the second team cruised to victory at Moulton Harrox.

The former Oakham School pupil plundered 21 fours and 10 sixes in his 102-ball innings as Deeping totalled a massive 425-9 from their 50 overs.

Openers Aaron Keverne-Onyon (42) and Muhammad Saleem (68) had already put on a 112-run first wicket partnership before James started his batting blitz to boost his home club's title charge.

They then bowled out Boston for 132 with Saleem taking 5-31 from his nine overs as league leaders Deeping opened up a 14-point advantage at the top of the table.

The second team romped to a 10-wicket win at Moulton Harrox 2nds in Division One South as Khan's 7-22 helped dismiss their hosts for just 57.

Deeping needed less than 10 overs to pass their target as Taha Shahid struck six boundaries in his 34 not out.

Moulton's first team had better fortunes in their match at Ketton Sports as they won by six wickets in the Championship South clash.

Spalding slipped back into the Premier Division relegation zone after a 53-run home reversal to Grimsby.

The visitors had been bowled out for 133 but Spalding could only muster 80 in reply.

Barnaby Dring and Walter Kinlock both claimed three wickets for Spalding who struggled with the bowling of Muhammad Ayub in reply as the Grimsby ace finished with 6-26.

Second-placed Bourne remain hot on the heels of table-topping Scunthorpe after a five-wicket home win over Woodhall Spa at the Abbey Lawn.

They dismissed their visitors for 130 with Jack Berry taking 3-26 while Ray Toole (2-38), Dan Freeman (2-12) and Sam Evison (2-18) all bagged a brace each.

Evison then led the reply with 43 before skipper Freeman steered his side home with an undefeated 35 not out.

Long Sutton remain in control of the Division One South title race after a convincing eight-wicket away win at Heckington.

Josh Baker took 6-17 from nine overs as Heckington were bowled out for 45, a target which passed Sutton inside six overs.

Sutton's second string suffered an 18-run home loss against Freiston in Division Two South.

Joe Whitaker had taken 4-18 with Callum John claiming 3-31 as Freiston were bowled out for 126 after electing to bat first.

However, Sutton could only muster 108 in reply despite Jack Baker making 40 and Whitaker adding 20.

Spalding 2nds secured a five-wicket away win at Newborough after bowling out their hosts for 117.

Richard Riley and George Morris led the Spalding attack with 3-22 and 3-12 respectively before Andrew Sorrell scored 31 ahead of Morris guiding them past the winning post with 27 not out.

Baston were beaten by 51 runs in their home match with Orton Park 2nds who made 196-4 after electing to bat first.

The hosts were bowled out for 145 in reply despite an unbeaten half-century from Dhruv Virani and Ben Hudson hitting 45 for the defeated Baston side.
