Players from Mumbai Indians dominated the 2026 T20 World Cup squad announced on Saturday (December 20). As many as four players, including captain Suryakumar Yadav, represent MI in the world's biggest cricket league. Apart from Suryakumar, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma and Jasprit Bumrah are MI's players in the WC squad. Suryakumar rejoined MI in the IPL 2018 mega-auction while Pandya rejoined MI before IPL 2024.

Tilak and Bumrah have been with the Mumbai-based franchise since their IPL debuts. Interestingly, Suryakumar plays under Pandya in IPL. Pandya looked set to become India's T20I captain after the 2024 World Cup but the selectors picked Suryakumar.

Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy and Rinku Singh are three players from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who are part of the WC team. Harshit earned his maiden India call-up after IPL 2024. Chakaravarthy, a member of the 2021 T20 World Cup team, also made his comeback in 2024.

Rinku made his India debut in 2023. He was dropped for the recently-concluded T20I series against South Africa but the selectors recalled him. He was one of the standby players for the 2024 T20 WC and travelled with the team.

Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav play for Delhi Capitals (DC). Axar was appointed India's vice-captain in Shubman Gill's absence. The senior all-rounder made his India debut in 2014. He was part of the 2015 ODI World Cup team, but didn't get to play a game.

Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Kishan didn't seem to be in the scheme of thinsg to be part of the WC team. His heroics in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy forced the selectors to hand him a recall after two years.
