India vs New Zealand: Team India to tour New Zealand Later This Year For a Full Format Series
New Zealand Cricket has announced its home series schedule for an all-format series against India. They will be hosting Team India in a five-match T20I and ODI series, followed by a two-match Test series that will be crucial for India’s march in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The India vs New Zealand series will take place between October and December later this year.
India vs New Zealand: India to tour New Zealand after 6 years for a Test series
The last time India played Tests in New Zealand was during the 2019‑20 tour. Since then, New Zealand have travelled twice to India, including their 2024‑25 visit that ended in a memorable 3‑0 sweep.
Nowadays, we sporadically see a five-match ODI series, as T20Is have become a high-dividend business model and the 50-over format appears to be barely existing. Despite this fact, New Zealand cricket insisted on a 5-match ODI series, and the BCCI gladly accepted the request. NZC’s chief marketing and commercial officer, Glenn Critchley, was visibly proud while releasing the schedule of a bumper home series.
“When it comes to cricket, it simply doesn’t get bigger than India, and we’re determined to deliver New Zealanders a tour like no other. This will be about more than just the cricket on the field, it will be a celebration of New Zealand’s shared history and culture with India and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket,” Glenn Critchley said.
“The passion and the following this team has is staggering, not to mention some of the players expected to tour, such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, so we’re bracing for the intensity and fandom that will accompany the tour. Experiencing the noise, colour and atmosphere of an Indian cricket international is a bucket-list event, and I’d encourage the Kiwi public to take up the opportunity to witness it first-hand,” he added.
“We’re expecting all of these games to sell out, so we’re urging fans to register for their tickets during the pre-sale window to avoid disappointment.”
