Lancashire League leaders Burnley Cricket Club saw their six-match winning streak halted at Haslingden as chasers Lowerhouse continued to pile on the runs.

Having scored 393 at Enfield a week earlier, Lowerhouse had to settle for 301-2 at home to Clitheroe on Saturday but it was enough for a 45-run win.

Dan Salpietro made it back-to-back centuries for House but Henri Cottam was their top scorer, carrying his bat for 105 and scoring 16 boundaries in his maiden ton.

Salpietro also finished unbeaten on 102 as the pair shared an unbroken stand of 176.

Clitheroe then gave a determined chase as spectators saw more than 550 runs scored. Diego Rosier (54) put on 93 with captain Ali Ross (51) but the innings closed on 256.

Lowerhouse remain third but moved to within 10 points of Burnley, who went down by 32 runs at Haslingden.

The hosts recovered from 7-2 to post 188 as Jeet Raval led way with 48 and put on 60 for the fourth wicket with Adam Masood (31) .

Professional Ockert Erasmus took 5-51. However, his 17 was the best score in Burnley's reply until number eight Bharat Tripathi got them moving with 39.

His efforts took Burnley closer to their target than had looked likely at 88-8, though they still fell short at 156 with 4.2 overs remaining.

Burnley have seen their lead over Walsden cut to two points ahead of Sunday's derby at home to Lowerhouse.

First comes a chance of revenge on Haslingen on Saturday, when Burnley host T20 finals days and the teams meet again in the first semi-final.

The Burnley v Lowerhouse game will honour the memory of local sports stalwart Nick Howarth.

Nelson stay third in division two after a three-wicket home win over Rochdale, chasing down 195 with 6.4 overs to spare.

Salpietro scored 70 for Rochdale, who were held in check by Hassan Fazal (4-24) and Tyler McGladdery (4-51).

Sam Holt topped the scoring for Nelson with 46 as his opening stand of 75 with Fazal (21) provided a solid start. And although three wickets went down at 129, the victory was sealed at 198-7.

Nelson remain five points behind leaders Crompton, whose 11-run win denied Colne a fifth straight victory.

The fourth-placed hosts did their utmost to chase 267-3, in which Mohammed Jamal (128) and opener Saif Bhojani (109) shared 233 for the third wicket.

Colne were all out for 256 with four balls remaining as Geeth Kumara made 67, sharing 87 with Sam Tillotson (33), and Shahzaib Raja added 48.

Colne host second-placed Accrington on Sunday, when Nelson visit Rawtenstall.
