Batting first, Gujarat managed to post a total of 162 runs, which Punjab successfully chased down in the final over. Despite the loss, Shubman Gill delivered a solid performance with 39 runs, while Jos Buttler contributed 38. Among the bowlers, Prasidh Krishna stood out as an impact player, picking up three wickets for 29 runs in his four overs.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals began their Indian Premier League 2026 campaign on a strong note, securing a convincing eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings. Chennai, after opting to bat first, could only manage 127 runs, a target Rajasthan comfortably chased in just 12.1 overs.
