The Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 10 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5.

The Sunrisers play their first home game after two games on the road. They were comprehensively beaten by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their opening game, before a comfortable win against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.

The Lucknow Super Giants lost their opening game at the Ekana Stadium to the Delhi Capitals in a low-scoring affair, and will be looking to get their campaign underway with a victory. Both teams are filled with strong players, who come with fierce reputations and solid track records.

Here are three player battles for SRH vs LSG Match 9

3) Mitchell Marsh vs Harsh Dubey

Mitchell Marsh, with 627 runs, was Lucknow’s best batter in the 2025 season, setting the tone for their innings at the top of the order. Without bowling responsibilities, his batting has gone to another level. He top-scored in Lucknow’s innings against Delhi, with a 39 consisting of attractive shots and muscling the ball over the boundary. He is expected to continue his form for the Super Giants.

Up against him will be SRH’s left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey. With Marsh’s issues with spin, Dubey’s role as the lead spinner becomes key, as his bowling angles are expected to trouble the right-handed Aussie.

2) Nicholas Pooran vs Harshal Patel

Nicholas Pooran had a brilliant season with the bat for LSG in 2025, and as one of their big overseas names, he would be expected to carry that form into the 2026 season. He is a fearsome hitter of both pace and spin, and can score in all phases of the innings. Up against him will be Harshal Patel, SRH’s strike-bowler. With his slower balls and variations, Harshal is a dangerous customer to face.

The West Indian has a stellar record against his counterpart, having scored 49 runs from the 25 balls. Harshal has failed to dismiss Pooran in the six innings that they have met, but will be looking to change that.

1) Abhishek Sharma vs Mohammed Shami

Abhishek Sharma is coming off a dismal T20 World Cup, but he found his footing against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The opener smashed 48 off just 21 balls, and was merciless in his takedown of Varun Chakravarthy. It will be Mohammed Shami’s responsibility to take him down early, in the powerplay.

The match-up favours the Lucknow fast-bowler, as Abhishek has been able to score only eight runs in 18 balls off Shami in four innings for one dismissal. Abhishek will be looking to set the record right when they meet in Hyderabad.
