Uganda’s Cricket Cranes took care of business against the hosts Rwanda in their third game at the ILT20 Cup.

The hosts, Rwanda, always come as a tricky package because of the close relationship between the two sides, especially because both sides have players who feature in their local leagues.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bat first. Anas Baig (66) put his struggles in the first two games aside with a well-crafted half-century, and together with his opening partner Robinson Obuya (25), they managed to put on 64 for the first wicket.

Gerald Olipa (45) continued his good form in Kigali and was the only other notable contributor, with Captain Riazat Ali Shah (29) making a late cameo. The tail contributed little, as Uganda piled on 198/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

In the run chase, Rwanda lost Hamza Khan early, but Isae Niyomugabo (38) and captain Didier Ndikubwimwana (20) offered some resistance, but it wasn’t sustained enough to mount a challenge to Uganda.

Matthew Musinguzi (3/23), Cosmas Kyewuta (3/20), and Joseph Baguma (3/20) were the pick of the bowlers in a routine win for the defending champions.

The Cricket Cranes maintained their 100% record against a tricky opponent before taking on their fierce rivals Kenya tomorrow morning.
